What you’re seeing
There will be 2 tracks.
Track 1 will have 3 judging tables and 3 separate competitions going on at the same time.
Track 2 will have 2 judging tables and 2 separate competitions going on at the same time.
At competitions at this level the ‘rounds’ are called ‘flights’. This is a trampolining term and reflects that Trampoline, DMT and Tumbling are grouped together under FIG regulations.
Each competition can be spread over several flights but always the same panel.
For example - Flight 7 will have Imi’s competition, Regional 2 15+ Female part 2 being judged by panel 4 whilst panel 5 will be judging Regional 3 U15 Female part 2 then Regional 3 O15 part 1, the same competition as Kiran’s and she will be judged in flight 8.
The tumblers go down the track alternately to each panel. Some of Imi’s competitors will have been judged in flight 6 and others in flight 8.
It becomes very difficult to compare your gymnast with others on the track. You’ll have to trust the judges and wait for the final scores to know who comes where!
Be aware that the scoreboard you will be able to see cannot show the full picture until all the competitors in a competition (some over 3 flights) have completed all 3 of their runs.
The other somewhat confusing element is the on track warm up. At this competition the tumblers will warm up runs 1 and 2 using only 2 passes down the track. After competing run 1 and 2 they will then warm up run 3 with 1 pass down the track before competing that run. So not every pass you see is being judged.
Best relax, enjoy the tumbling and wait for the results!
