Acronyms
A. We commonly use the following acronyms:
NDP - National Development Program
British Gymnastics provide a development program for each of their disciplines. The idea is that a gymnast can work through the skills required by each level and safely learn the skills required to take them through to the top level. Competitions are based on these skill levels and culminate in yearly National Finals.
FIG - Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique
This is the organisation that sets the rules for each discipline at International, World and Olympic level.
Performing FIG defined runs is the ultimate goal of any tumbler. FIG runs are tariffed, so the more difficult the run the higher the potential score AND the higher the risk of something going wrong!
WAG - World Age Group
This is the top level of competition in the world for tumbling as it is not yet an Olympic sport. Britain always performs well at this competition and is considered one of the top tumbling countries in the world.
